Our solutions to crowd simulations

Crowd simulation made simple

Crowd simulations used to be complex to operate and reserved for highly qualified experts.

VIRTUALITIS aims at making crowd simulations easy to operate for anyone in charge of planning the flow of pedestrians in highly populated public buildings such as stadiums, concert halls, or open spaces like business or touristic districts.

Integrate a 3D digital twin of your environment…

The first step is to integrate into Virtualitis a 3D model of the place of your interest and to define its pedestrian areas. The time required for this configuration phase of the simulation environment may vary a lot, depending on the availability of this 3D model and its file format (OBJ, FBX, BIM…), its degree of complexity and the possible need to simplify it to optimize the simulation speed.

We propose you two alternatives:

  • With Virtualitis Premium™, you can do this task yourself. A training is required though to be fully autonomous.
  • With Virtualitis Light™, we take over this task of integrating your 3D model and configuring the 3D environment and you just have to create your scenarios and launch your simulations. A cost estimate will be done prior to the integration so that you can plan your budget in advance.

Once this initial step is performed…

Create your own scenario, then simulate !

Once the initial step of integrating and configuring the 3D model of your environment is performed, users of both Virtualitis Premium and Virtualitis Light can create their own scenarios and launch their simulations:

  • Define the number of persons in each departure zone
(e.g. tribunes in the case of a stadium or office buildings in the case of a business district)
  • Select the flow distribution for each destination zone
(e.g. the exits of a stadium, concert hall, airport, subway entrances…)
  • Estimate the walking speed distribution of the simulated population
    (e.g. percentage of pedestrians walking slowly/walking normally/running)
  • Select way points to direct the crowd flow like you would do in the real world with signs and/or security teams
  • Add optional criteria (e.g. supporters of opponent teams not crossing each other)

You can modify the parameters and run simulations as many times as you want to simulate the various conditions that may occur in real life.

In Virtualitis Light, the parameters and evacuation time of each simulation are stored online and can be displayed at any time to compare various scenarios and help decision makers to take the right decisions regarding the crowd movements they have to manage.
